The Indian cricket team faces large selection calls for the second test match against England. India, who has lost the opener of the 5-match series in Leeds, is expected to make major changes in Edgbaston, where they lost to England in 2022.
Until the second test, Jasprit Bumrah focuses a lot for the upcoming game. Indian Captain Shubman Gill dealt with rumors that Jasprit Bumrah does not play in the 2nd test match, and said that a fast pitch was available for selection, but the latest call to include it in the test match will be accepted on Tuesday evening.
Gill also confirmed that India will play two spinners in the game, and a call that two will be accepted after the final field in the morning 1. India has the possibility of Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar on the bench. If they want the attacked out-and-out option, they will certainly play wrist.
Indian dilemma SHARDUL
Bowling All-Rounder Shardul Thakur was chosen for the test team on the back of the sensational power in Ranji Trophy. His time on tour, however, could be shortened because India is likely to strengthen the tail with Nitish Reddy, who showed that he is an extremely capable red ball in Australia.
Inclusion Nitish will mean that India will need an added expert that is likely to be one of the Kuldeep or Washington Sundar. This in turn means India will have to drop one between Karun Nair or Sai Sudharsan.
Shaubman Gill has already called for greater responsibility from the highest order, which could indicate that Sudhasan would retain his place in the line -up, at least for another test match.
Should India play Arshdeep?
India carried Arshdeep Singh in his team for England. SuperStar White Balls is the only quick pitch of the left arm on the Indian side. Fans want to see some diversity in the Indian line -up, an argument that has good merit. However, it is unlikely that Gautam Gautam Gautam will reduce the experience of the bowling line -up that is already fighting on the tour.
India predicted XI for 2. Test
Yashsvi Jaiswal, Kl Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, SHUBMAN GILL (C), RISHABH PANT (WK/VC), NITISH REDDY, KULDEEP YADAV, Ravindra Jadeja, Mhammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Jasp.
England, on the other hand, has already announced its playing XI. After winning the previous test match in Leeds, they go with an unchanged line -up.
England plays XI for 2. Test
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), Jamie Smith (WK), Chris Woakes, Brydon Cars, Josh Language, Shoaib Bashir.
