India vs Brazil Kolkata tickets cost Rs 1000-15000, most sold out within minutes

The wait is finally over and the response has been emphatic. Ticket sales for India’s much-anticipated football exhibition match against Brazil began at the official ticketing partner on Wednesday, September 2 at 4:00 PM IST. Within 20 minutes, most of the seats, especially in the non-premium categories priced between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000, were sold out. The demand was such that users were placed in a virtual queue, similar to trying to get an IPL ticket.

Brazil, five-time world champions and currently fifth in the FIFA rankings, will face India at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata October 3rd. This will be the first time that Brazil’s senior national team is playing in India, making the match one of the biggest in the history of Indian football. India, ranked 138th, will face the highest-ranked opponent they have played since the introduction of the FIFA world ranking system in 1992.

The premium ticket was also in high demand, priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, while the cheapest tickets started at Rs 999, which is quite a high price for an Indian football match. The 85,000 capacity stadium is expected to be packed when Kolkata welcome Brazil.

And for fans wondering if Brazil will arrive with a weakened squad, there is reason for optimism. An AIFF official indicated that Brazil are expected to field a full squad barring injuries. That means Kolkata could potentially see some of the biggest names in world football, including Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Endrick, under Carlo Ancelotti.

The match is also part of Brazil’s first FIFA international window after the 2026 World Cup. The Brazilian Football Confederation said the matches against Australia and India will be part of its preparation and player evaluation ahead of the 2028 Copa America and 2030 World Cup.

THREE BIG FRIENDLY DEVICES

India, meanwhile, did not see the match against Brazil as an isolated spectacle.

Head coach Khalid Jamil has named a 26-man squad for a tough three-match international warm-up series against Panama, Brazil and Uruguay. India will open the series against Panama in Bengaluru on September 26 before traveling to Kolkata to play Brazil on October 3. Three days later, on October 6, the Blue Tigers will face two-time world champions Uruguay at the same Salt Lake Stadium.

The squad includes experienced names like Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad and Manvir Singh, along with some younger players. Notably, Sandesh Jhingan and Lallianzuala Chhangte were left out while four players were named as reserve players.

Jamil’s team will begin the preparation camp in Bengaluru on September 14. After the match in Panama, the team will travel to Kolkata on September 28, giving the players a short turnaround before the two biggest matches of their careers.

The three-match series is significant as all three opponents have featured in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Panama, Brazil and Uruguay will offer India three very different but equally demanding tests, giving Jamil an opportunity to assess his team against opposition operating at a significantly higher level.

Of course, the Brazil match will attract the most attention. Kolkata has long had a deep connection with Brazilian football, and the city’s passionate support for the Selecao helped make the match particularly special.

But for India, there is a bigger goal than one evening of glamour.

Playing Brazil and Uruguay in the space of three days, with Panama before them, gives the Blue Tigers a rare opportunity to experience three high-quality international Tests in one window. For a team looking to develop, these matches can offer something that training sessions and lesser opposition cannot: a measure of where Indian football currently stands against some of the best teams in the world.
