India are leaving very little to chance ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad. When the stakes are this high, even the smallest details start to matter.
Including team hotel.
As India are gearing up to take on New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 8 March, the squad reportedly changed its base in the city. Instead of staying at ITC Narmada, where they were accommodated during previous visits, the team is now camping at Taj Skyline.

At first glance, it looks like a simple logistical switch. But fans are already convinced that there may be a hint of superstition behind it.
Ahmedabad has brought both joy and sorrow to India over the years. On paper, the numbers are pretty impressive. India have won seven of their 10 T20 matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium and lost only three.
However, numbers rarely tell the whole story.
Because whenever Ahmedabad is mentioned, many Indian fans can’t help but think of November 19, 2023 when Australia stunned India in the ODI World Cup final at the same stadium.
So when news broke that the Indian team had moved hotels ahead of the next world final in Ahmedabad, it quickly sparked chatter online. Some fans believe the change may simply be the team trying to avoid a repeat of that night’s ghosts.
WHY IS INDIA SWITCHING TEAM HOTELS AHMEDABAD?
The most straightforward explanation is actually logistical.
The International Cricket Council has already designated ITC Narmada as the official hotel for the first team to qualify for the finals. This turned out to be New Zealand, which meant India had to opt for other accommodation in the city.
The Indian team therefore moved to the Taj Skyline before the finals.
Yet this change inevitably evoked memories of previous Indian sojourns in Ahmedabad. During the 2023 ODI World Cup final, the team stayed at the ITC Narmada before suffering a heartbreaking defeat to Australia at the same stadium.
India has also suffered recently their only defeat in the 2026 T20 World Cup at this venue when South Africa beat them in their Super 8 opener.
So while the hotel change may be purely coincidental, fans were quick to wonder if it could also help change the story of Ahmedabad.
After all, if the new hotel brings new luck, no one in the Indian camp is likely to complain.
T20 WORLD CUP WILL SHOW INDIA A FAITHFUL SIDE
If this tournament has shown anything, it’s that even the most professional teams sometimes carry a touch of superstition.
Earlier in the competition, India tweaked its training schedule ahead of the semi-final against England.
The team normally trains between 6 and 9 p.m. But on that particular day, the session was pushed back to 7pm.
The reason was a lunar eclipse.
The Indian team decided to avoid training before the end of the eclipse and training started only afterwards. Whether it was a precautionary measure, a cultural belief, or simply a harmless routine pick-me-up, it quickly caught the attention of fans.
