
The Indian cricket team warms up to the T20 2026 World Championship with a series of white ball against New Zealand, and announced the cricket control council in India on Saturday 14th June. The Council announced the 8-match the white ball series for the Indian team, consisting of 3 ODI and 5 T20is against the black cap.
The T20i team led by Suryakumar Yadav will play a series between 21.-31. January and reduce their key preparations for the World Championship, which is to be played in February March in India and Sri Lanka.

Another announcement
Apex Council decided to establish a working group involving five (5) “judges coaches” to supervise the development of referees and to increase their performance in the field. These five “judges” must have an international referee experience and served as a former referee.
In addition, the Apex Council decided to create a working group consisting of three (3) former referees. This working group will be responsible for monitoring the development of referees and providing opportunities to improve their performance in cricket matches.
Key main points: BCCI Home Season 2025–26
The time and coverage of the season
The home period 2025–26 will begin with Duleep Trophy (28th August 2025) and ends with a higher female intermediate multi -day trophy (April 3, 2026). The trophy wound will be held from 15 to 28 February in two stages with an improved format to see the promotion and descent of one team from the group of records.
Key changes
The Duleep Trophy and Senior Women’s Challenger will now be questioned among the six Zonal teams of selected Zonal selectors.
The restructuring of the record group was introduced across age categories. The lower 6 teams (based on the ranking of the previous season) will be placed in a group of records for limited tournaments.
Updated rules of promotion/descent: only one team will be promoted between the elite groups and the records.
Update of tournament format
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Trophy T20 Senior Women will now include the Super League scene instead of a traditional knockout.
New formats of grouping
The main tournaments such as Vijay Hazare Trophy, Trophy Senior Women’s One Day Trophy and the Men’s U23 Trophie will be followed by 4 elite groups + 1 board model.
Most junior and women’s tournaments (U16, U19, U23) moved to 5 elite + 1 boards.
