India will supply 150 locomotives worth more than 3,000 crore to the African country of Guinea, said the Ministry of Railways on Monday 16 June 2025).
Locomotives for make-in-India are designed for use in the site Simandou Iron Ore in the country, said Indian railway spokesman. “The railway locomotive factory in Marhowrah, Bihar, will deliver 150 ES43ACMi locomotive series. Thirty -seven locomotives will be exported in the current financial year, while 82 locomotives will be exported in the next financial year.
All these locomotives will have an air -conditioned cab (driver compartment). “Each locomot will have one cabin and two locomotives carry together 100 cars with maximum permissible speed,” the spokesman said.
Three types of tracks, wide gauge, standard gauge and Cape breakup were laid in the Marhowrah locomotive. “The project was provided through global competitive offering,” the spokesman added.
The 4,500 hp locomotives are equipped with alternating current (AC), regenerative braking, microprocessor -based controls and modular architecture.
“These locomotives are based on the best emission standards in their class, fire detection systems and ergonomic crew cabin with modern equipment such as refrigerator, microwave and water -free toilet system,” the spokesman said.
They are also equipped with a distributed system of wireless power control or DPWC for synchronized operations and excellent handling.
The Marhowrah factory in Bihar directly employs 285 people and another 1215 people get indirect employment, the spokesman added.
