14. The edition of India-Thai joint military exercise, Maitree-XIV, started on Monday (September 1, 2025) inaugurated in the common training node Umghalaya. The exercise will take place from 1 to 14 September.
The exercise focuses on increasing interoperability and mutual understanding and is part of the ongoing military to military exchange program between the two nations. The previous edition took place in Fort Vachirapraprakan in the province in Thailand.
The Indian army contingent 120 staff from the battalion of the Madras regiment participates together with 53 soldiers of the 1.
This year is focused on operations on terrorist operations at the company level in radius terrain in chapter VII Charter UN. Training modules include tactical exercises, joint planning, weapons skills, physical endurance and raids. The exercise will end with a 48 -hour validation phase simulating realistic operational scenarios.
Maitree, introduced in 2006, remains a key part of bilateral defensive cooperation, underlines the shared commitment of India and Thailand to regional, security and stability.
