The central government decided to suspend the exchange of all categories of incoming mail and land from Pakistan via air and surface routes, the Ministry of Communication said on Saturday.
The decision comes as a result of a deadly terrorist attack in the district of Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam, who killed 26 civilians April 22.
The Government has taken a number of measures against Pakistan, including the stop of the Indus Waters contract, the abolition of all special visas issued to Pakistani nationals, closed its air space for Pakistan’s airlines and also closed the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar.

India prohibits direct, indirect imports from Pakistan
India banned direct or indirect imports of all goods from Pakistan with immediate effect in the interest of national security and public policy, according to the government’s order.
This decision completely stops all incoming shipments of goods from Pakistan to India. Indian exports to Pakistan in April-following 2024-25 amounted to $ 447.65 million, while imports were modest by $ 0.42 million, PTI said.

The announcement of the General Directorate of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of 2 May stated that in this respect the provision in foreign trade policy (FTP) 2023 “prohibit direct or indirect import or transit of all goods from Pakistan or exported from Pakistan with immediate effect.”
He added that this restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy. Any exception to this prohibition will require the approval of the Indian government, the order said.
Pakistani ships forbidden to enter the Indian port
On Saturday, the center banned all ships carried by Pakistan to enter any Indian port in the middle of the escalating tension between the two countries after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam 22 April.
