India Spinner’s left arm Gouher Sultan announced her retirement from all forms of cricket. Sultana made her debut during ODI against Pakistan in 2008 and continued to represent the country in 50 ODI and 37 T20i. Her last performance for the country came during the women’s World Cup T20 2014 against Pakistan.
Recently, she also performed in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 and 2025 season, playing for Warriorz. A 37 -year -old woman finally announced her retirement through an instagram post, where she called playing for India the most honor in her life.
“After years of wearing an Indian jersey with pride, passion and purpose – time came to take the most emotional note of my cricket path. With a heart full of memories and eyes, gratitude, I announce my departure from all forms of the game,” Sultana wrote in an instagram post.
“She represented India at the highest level – at the World Championship, tours and battles that tested skills and spirit – was the greatest honor of my life. Every goal, every dive in the field, every chat with my teammates shaped cricket and the person I today,” she added.
Sultana commanded 66 goals out of 50 ODI on average 19.39 with three four goals in her name, with the best numbers 4/4. Out of 37 matches on average 26.27 with the best numbers 3/17 further rocks 29 goals.
Cricket born in Hyderabad played in two World Cups ODI in 2009 and 2013 and raised 12 goals in 11 matches. From 2009 to 2014 she also performed in three world cups T20 and claimed seven goals. Sultana is currently a BCCI level 2 coach.
