Former John Bolton’s National Security Adviser (NSA) noted that while India-USA’s relations remain largely unchanged and the new Delhi “should look at Donald Trump as a one-time proposal and deal with him”.
Bolton further killed the US President and said “Trump does not have a total national security strategy” and claimed to be “transaction”
Bolton, who also acted as a US Ambassador at the UN, criticized Trump’s “unpredictable behavior” of the introduction of tariffs in India for its Russian oil, while questioning why similar steps were not taken against countries such as China, Turkey and Pakistan, for the same practice.
“I think a large part of the tensions between India and the US has been a very uneven style.
Trump imposed another 25% tariff on imports from India to push the new Delhi to stop the purchases of discounted Russian oil. This step increased the overall repressive obligations to Indian goods to 50%, which further stressed ongoing business interviews between the two democracy.
However, Trump did not put similar tariffs on Chinese imports, despite the constant purchase of Russian oil of China, a decision that is probably influenced by the efforts of his administration to maintain a fragile trade ceasefire with Beijing.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said on Friday that his patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin had a thin, although he stopped announcing new sanctions.
Trump expressed frustration from Putin’s continuing prosecution of the war and noted that sanctions focused on Russian banks and oil remain on the table as a possible pressure tactics. However, he stressed that any such measures would require coordinated steps with European allies.
“We will have to descend very, very strongly,” Trump warned.
