India on Saturday (June 20, 2026) struck down certain remarks on Kashmir by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, saying he had no standing to comment on the country’s internal affairs.

“India categorically rejects the unauthorized comments of the President of Pakistan. He has no standing whatsoever to speak on matters internal to India,” said External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal.

“These comments are particularly absurd given Pakistan’s abysmal human rights record, which is a matter of global comment.” Mr Jaiswal said Pakistan’s “long history of systematic targeting and victimization of minorities across different faiths is notorious.”

“Given this reality, the President’s remarks can only be understood as a deliberate political attack driven by Pakistan’s national policy of bigotry and hatred,” he said.
