India on Sunday (May 3, 2026) responded to Nepal’s objection to holding the upcoming Kailash Manasarovar Yatra through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand, saying such “unilateral artificial expansion” of territorial claims was “unsustainable”.
New Delhi’s reaction came after Nepal’s foreign ministry issued a statement protesting India and China for preparing for the annual pilgrimage through the Lipulekh Pass without consulting Kathmandu, which claims the region as its own.
