
The Gujarat government has announced a relief package of ₹947 crore for farmers in five districts for crop damage caused by heavy rains in August and September.
Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani today said the decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who met even on Diwali to ensure the finalization of the special package for farmers.
Under the provisions of the SDRF, assistance of ₹563 crore will be provided, while ₹384 crore has been added from the state budget for a total of ₹947 crore, he said.
The assistance will be paid to the affected farmers of 800 villages in 18 talukas of Junagadh, Panchmahal, Kutch, Patan and Vav-Tharad districts, a government statement said.
“Financial assistance will be provided as per the norms set by the state government for crop damage assistance, which are different for irrigated and non-irrigated land per hectare. Norms of financial assistance are also different for common and horticultural crops,” he added.
