Notam issued for temporary closure of 32 airports
AAI and relevant air authorities have issued a number of announcements for airmen (notams), which announced the temporary closure of 32 airports in North and West India for all civil flight operations.
This notam will be effective until 14 May 2025, which will be closed in 0529 15 May 2025 for operational reasons.

Emergency yield that takes place at PUNE Airport
On Saturday from 20:25 to 20:45, a planned emergency drill was scheduled at Pune airport. The aim of the exercise was to test the readiness and response of the airport to potential power outages or other extraordinary events.
The drill started with all the lights and power systems off. Employees of the airport and emergency respondents carried out emergency procedures. Incoming flights were instructed to float for 20-30 minutes. During the exercise, regular announcements were made to be informed and calm.

Srinagar Airport in the X post reported on May 7: “Civic flights at Srinagar Airport were suspended until the next announcement. Passengers are recommended to contact airlines to cancel or overpay.”

In the X post, the airport in Mumbai said: “Passengers of passengers around Mumbai Airport are invited to follow these instructions to ensure a safe and smooth journey.”
Amritsar airport
Amritsar Airport said in post X: “It is necessary to inform all involved that the suspension of all commercial/civilian domestic and international flight operations from AMRITSAR Airport has been extended and will now remain valid until 05:30 in the morning 15.05.2025.”
Meanwhile, security remains at the international airport Sri Guru Ram Das Jee in Amritsar. The devotees who come to compliment themselves in Gurdwara Santsar Ji are located in the airport area, are averted for safety reasons.
CISF gets a new mandate in sight of cargo, luggage screening at airports
The Civil Aviation (BCAS) Office has expanded the mandate of central industrial security forces (CISF) to include direct supervision of freight operations and luggage screening (ILHBSS) at Civil Airports in India.
According to the official memorandum (OM) dated Friday, the temporary arrangement will be valid from 9 to 18 May to 18 May 2025. The decision comes as a result of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which led to increased security concerns at national level.
All airports under the CISF cover have already implemented a new reinforced system.
