
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday (May 10) expressed strong support for India and Pakistani efforts to maintain a ceasefire, while calling for peace and restrictions from both sides. In his call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to the Chinese State Intelligence Agency Xinhua, Wang emphasized the Chinese desire to play a “constructive role” to ensure regional peace.
China condemns the Pahalgam attack
In his interview with the Indian Advisor to National Security Ajit Doval Wang condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
“China condemns the terrorist attack of Pahalgam and against all forms of terrorism,” Wang said. “Peace and stability in the Asian region are heavily reserved and deserve to be cared for.”
He reiterated that India and Pakistan are neighbors of China and that regional stability is a common interest. “India and Pakistan are neighbors that cannot be moved away, and both are neighbors of China,” he added.
Doval:
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry Ajit Doval, he explained that India was not interested in escalation of the conflict.
“The war was not the choice of India and was not in the interest of any party,” Wang said. “India and Pakistan would commit themselves to a ceasefire and look forward to restoring regional levels and stability as soon as possible.”
China hopes for a permanent ceasefire
Wang Yi, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also stressed that regional tensions should not be allowed to escalate further.
“The current international situation is turbulent and interconnected,” Wang said. “China appreciates your claim that war is not an India’s choice, and sincerely hopes that India and Pakistan will remain calm and restrained, properly solve differences through dialogue and consultations and avoid escalation of the situation.”
He also added: “China supports and expects India and Pakistan to achieve a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire through consultations. This is in the basic interests of India and Pakistan and is also a common wish of the international community.”
India accuses Pakistan for a breach of a ceasefire
On Saturday (May 10), India accused Pakistan of violating the newly agreed ceasefire only a few hours after US President Donald Trump announced that both nations had retreated from escalation. Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Misri said that there was a “repeated violation” of an understanding of the ceasefire and the confirmed Indian armed forces “retaliation appropriately”.
“We are calling for Pakistan to take appropriate steps to deal with these violations and solve the situation with severity and responsibility,” Misri said at a press conference in Nový Delhi.
Trump on social media announced an agreement on the ceasefire, mediated by the United States after intensive cross -border struggles, on social media: “India and Pakistan have agreed on complete and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries to use common sense and great intelligence.”
India-Pakistan tension escalates
The tension between India and Pakistan escalated after a number of military exchanges induced by a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which the Indian authorities linked to cross -border terrorist networks.

India hits terrorist pages in POK, then
On Wednesday (May 7), the Indian armed forces carried out accurate strikes on the terrorist launchpads based in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) under the operation of Sindoor. The strikes were described by Indian officials as a measured response to the terrorist attack of Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists.
The Indian government said that operations focused on Launchpads used by terrorist groups for infiltration in Indian territories. The event is one of the most important military answers by Balakot Airstrikes in 2019.
Pakistan denied the involvement in the hillgam attack. Since then, both countries have exchanged artillery fire, rocket strokes and drone inputs.
