Former Australia captain Michael Clarke strongly urged Indian team leadership to include the wrist of the left shoulder of Kuldeep Yadav into the XI playing series against England. Clarke described the decision to build Kuldeep as an absolute “infallible” and emphasized his ability to take goals regardless of the conditions of the playground.
India decided for a lone spinner in Ravindra Jadeja for the first test. However, the experienced versatile could not have a big impact and in both shifts he claimed only one goal. Despite the available rough spots, especially against left -wing doughs, Jadeja was unable to use the conditions effectively. England comfortably chased 371 to take the lead 1-0 in the series.
When he spoke on the Beyond23 podcast, Clarke did not take his words. “Bowling-wise, I don’t want to be hard on any individual, but I think he has to play the culteep yadav. I think it’s absolutely infallible.
Clarke criticized the tendency of India to prefer the depth of launching over a balanced bowling assembly. “India has done it for some time. It takes care of further launching or stacking deep and are willing to risk that it will choose its number one.
He also emphasized the need for greater support for Jasprit Bumrah, who played in the first shifts with five goals, but in the second went without a goal. Clarke pointed out that Mohammed Siraj and Prazidh Krishna were unable to keep the pressure and admitted too many free vans.
“Bumrah is a star, leading the attack. But another three stimulation, yes, sometimes they bowed well, but they have to find more ways to take goals. Their execution must probably be better,” Clarke said.
On Jadejaho’s stunning performance, Clarke added: “Jadeja did not have an impact he thought he could. Especially in the second shift, I expected to use the harsh outside the left -wing palm.
The second test will start on Wednesday 2 July in Edgbaston.
