
The Tour Freestyle Chess Grand Slam, which was supposed to have its fifth event in Delhi in September, was later canceled this year due to lack of sponsors. Co -founder Jan Henric Buettner confirmed the messages at Chess.com after speculating the event after removing the foot of Delhi from the official website.
This event was supposed to be their fifth event inauguration Grand Slam, after she published a successful show in Weissenhaus, Paris and Karlsruhe. Currently, GM Magnus Carlsen holds the lead at the top with 65 points after winning two events.
Carlsen will be at the main event that will take place in Las Vegas 16.-20. July, later next month. Was recently seen in action against nine -year -old Aarit Chapel from Delhiwho approached the defeat of the current top player.
Asked if a possible replacement could occur, Buettner provided a cryptic answer and suggested that something could be done, but the notification must still be made.
“Yes and no,” Chess.com quoted him.
“Instead, we will do something special for the September stage of the tour. This will be announced after Las Vegas,” he added.
Buettner also revealed that he plans to withdraw from his role as CEO. In a previous interview, he revealed how he wants to take over the more powerful role instead. It is now set to end its term as the CEO of 1 July.
“I hope I get out of it! I want it to be implemented in a perfect way. I give everything, so when all my visions in my head are implemented, then I can have more powerful roles,” he said.
What will be for Indian chess stars?
With freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour now canceled, another home event for India’s best chess star There will be Chennai Grand Masters, starting on August 6, where the tournament includes a 10-round Robin format with GMS such as Arjun Erigaisi, Nihal Sarin, Anish Giri, Vincent Kemer, among many others to compete.
