“Although they appear safe, long-term data are limited; their widespread use has been around 4-5 years in the US, while in India use was limited for about two years due to high costs before the recent advent of generics. In India, we need to monitor how they interact with local comorbidities. A structured hospital system including direct consumer reporting in addition to prescriber reporting is needed to track adverse events.”
