The Indian embassy in Tehran has issued a revised travel advisory asking Indian nationals to postpone all travel to Iran and urging those already in the country to consider leaving the country temporarily as security conditions worsen amid the escalating conflict between the US and Iran.
The advisory comes after days of increased military activity across Iran, including repeated US airstrikes and Iranian retaliatory strikes, raising concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in the region.
The Indians asked for the trip to be postponed
The embassy has advised Indian citizens planning to visit Iran for any purpose to postpone their trip until the security situation improves.
“Indian nationals intending to travel to Iran for any purpose should postpone travel for the time being until the security environment improves,” the advisory said.
Indians in Iran called to leave
The embassy has also urged Indians currently in Iran to consider leaving the country temporarily using available commercial flight options.
It stopped short of ordering an evacuation, but advised citizens to assess the evolving security situation and leave if possible.
The rest were told to use extreme caution
Indian nationals who choose to remain in Iran have been advised by the embassy to exercise the utmost caution and remain alert to developments.
The council called on citizens to:
-Watch carefully for news and official updates.
-Avoid areas that are witnessing increased military activity, especially along the southern coast of Iran.
– Follow all instructions issued by local authorities.
Registration at the embassy is mandatory
The embassy has also asked all Indian nationals in Iran who have not yet registered with the mission to do so without delay.
He urged citizens to regularly monitor the embassy’s official website and social media platforms for further alerts and updates on emergency situations.
The advisory comes at a time of worsening security situation
The updated advisory follows a sharp escalation in hostilities between the United States and Iran.
