
New Delhi: India and Israel signed a two -sided investment agreement to strengthen investors’ protection and create a framework for expanding trade and investment between the two nations, the Ministry of Finance said in its Monday statement.

According to the statement, the agreement will “provide greater certainty and protection for investors, which will facilitate the growth of commercial and mutual investments by ensuring a minimum standard of treatment and an independent mechanism of dispute resolution through arbitration”.
It also includes warranties of expropriation, provisions on transparency and rules to ensure smooth transfers and compensation for losses.
Both ministers emphasized their commitment to develop cooperation in finch innovations, infrastructure development, financial regulation and digital payments. The ministry noted that the pact reflects the common goal of two countries to build a more resistant investment environment together with the strengthening of trade and capital flows.

Smotrich, in turn, emphasized the ability of India and Israel to maintain strong economic growth despite security challenges and called for deeper cooperation in cyber security, defense, innovation and high-technological sectors.
