The Indian military event against terrorists and their infrastructure in Pakistan exceeded terrorist camps with retaliation on the night of 9 May and 10 May aimed at 11 Pakistani air foundations, including Nur Khan near Chaklaly in Rawalpindi. The Indian army also went over 150 kilometers inside Pakistan to hit Malira Cantta in Karachi.
Air Marshal AK Bharti on Monday submitted photographic evidence of damage to these military foundations and noted that specific goals at the Nur Khan Airport and others suffered significant damage during the retaliation. The retaliatory strikes were also carried out in Rafiqui, Murid, Sukkur, Sialkot, Pasrur, Chunian, Sargodha, Skard, Bhari and Jacobabad Air Bases.
The objectives included communication buildings, runways, operational centers, radar places, aircraft hangars and shelters in Nur Khan and other air bases.
Why did India hit the military base NUR Khan?
Nur Khan Air Base, located just 10 km from the capital of Pakistan, is a critical logistics center for the Pakistani army, which also plays a major role as a transport center.
Nur Khan, sitting near Pakistan’s strategic plans that oversees the country’s nuclear arsenal, also hosts PAF College – and Fazaia Inter College Nur Khan. It is also surrounded by Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
According to the New York Times report, the Nur Khan air base is “home to air replenishment that would maintain Pakistani fighters above”.
Nur Khan also plays a key role in logistics, VIP transport and strategic operations. Also read | India starts 4 Airbases in Pakistan “missile attacks”: message
When Pakistan focused on several places in India with missiles and drones, the Indian missile strike at the Nur Khan military base could be considered a deliberate signal that if it was provoked, India can go to Pakistan’s territory and intervene highly sensitive and strategic places in the country.
The strike at Malir Cantonment in Kareni was confirmed on Monday as part of the Sindoor – Indie’s reaction to the terrorist attack Pahalgam. Malir Cantt, the Home of Critical Military Infrastructure, has a strategic significance in Pakistan’s settings.
Air Marshal Bharti said that as an Indian “measured and calibrated” response to Pakistan’s aggression, the Indian armed forces focused on military installations, including the Malir Cantonment missile space in Karach.
