1st day in Lord’s was not quite suitable for a basball script. England was burning … carefully? Leaves, blocks and even girls – yes, it was such a day.
India brought heat to their credit. And no one expected Nitish Kumar Reddy to spark. The young Pacer amazed everyone with the first double blow and soon removed Duckett and Crawley and Rattling England. England looked cautious after she went down four goals – but then Joe Root and Ben Stokes entered.
The root, as always, dug deep and ended the day undefeated on the 99. Stokes, limp, but determined, supported him well to stabilize the shifts.
As day 2 begins, things are open. If the root runs, India could chase the skin. But if the pitchors hit soon, especially with the second new ball, the momentum could swing again.
Bazball could stand up, but expect to wake up soon. Lord’s is ready for another crackling day.
