The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) on Wednesday (May 21, 2025) announced an official in the Pakistani High Commission as Persona Non Grata. This means a second such statement concerning a Pakistani diplomat within ten days.
In his statement, Mea said: “The Indian government declared a Pakistani official who worked in the Pakistani High Commission in Nový Delhi, Person Non Grata for indulging in activities that were in accordance with his official status in India.
The ministry also added: “The accusation of D’Affaires, the Pakistani High Commission, was issued today by Demarche. He was asked to strictly ensure that none of Pakistani diplomats or officials in India abused his privileges and status in any way.”
On May 13, an employee of the Pakistani High Commission was similarly declared a persona non grata in India. Soon after, the Pakistani authorities excluded employees from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
Despite the growing diplomatic friction after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam 22. April of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the Indian retaliation Sindoor 7. However, the recent expulsion of tit-for-toat is expected to reduce the number of officials on two diplomatic missions.
