Kris Srikkanth has called for an end to the biggest rivalry hype between India and Pakistan after the result on Sunday, February 15, at the 2026 FIFA World Cup T20. Srikkanth said India’s C team is enough to beat Pakistan after their narrow capitulation in the Colombo game.

India beat Pakistan outright by 61 runs in a game that was recreated to much fanfare and again proved to be a one-sided affair. With this, India extended their record to 8-1 against Pakistan in T20 World Cups and qualified for the Super 8 stages of the tournament. On his YouTube channel, Srikkanth sympathized with viewers for the lack of quality in the Pakistan side to fight against India.
The former India coach said that the hype around Shaheen Shah Afridi is over and Pakistan are struggling to find a good pacer at the moment. Srikkanth was extremely critical of the current batting and claimed that Pakistan should not play T20Is if Babar Azam is their main batter.
“That Shaheen Afridi, all the hype – done, gone.
“Have you seen Pakistan like this live? The likes of Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, then so many – Aqib Javed, how many bowlers? Now they are fighting to get one fast bowler. Has cricket deteriorated so much in your country? There is not a single decent batsman in batting. If you even need Babar Azam to play, he is your main player, don’t’ T20.”
“This is one of the worst Pakistan batting sides I have ever seen. I saw the likes of Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Rameez Raja before that – what a batting team they were.”
“Am I right? India’s fourth XI will beat them. They should say ‘we are not available for India’s main team, India C will play against you. You call us, we will come and beat you. India C will beat them,'” Srikkanth said.
WHO CALLS TOSS?
During the show, Srikkanth said that Pakistan handed the game to India with their decision to bat first. The former India opener said it was ridiculous and questioned whether it was a call from coach Mike Hesson or captain Salman Ali Agh.
“Salman Ali Agha walked in that wicket, won the toss and fielded. From there the match was over. It was actually a ridiculous decision. Who’s calling? It’s Mike Hesson or Agha, I don’t even know,” Srikkanth said.
Pakistan have some work to do if they are to qualify for the Super 8 stage after losing to India. They need to beat Namibia in their last group game to progress to the next stage.
