Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel said he was a little nervous, that he was going to England because of the lack of cricket of the red ball that the party had had in the last few months. India last played a test match in January during the Trophy Border-Gavascar and the players have since been occupied by the tasks of white balls, including the masters of Trophy and IPL.
England tour will be the beginning of the new cycle of the World Championship in India, which missed the final of 2023-25. Morkel, when he spoke on the official BCCI website, said he was starting to the training camp in England so far. The bowling coach is happy with the progress of players and feels that self -confidence and team spirit are needed in the test series.
“Overall, so far satisfied with the beginning. I was a little nervous when it comes to lack of the red ball we played, but when I saw the boys move and training in the last three days. We have a fantastic group.”
Morkel feels that the consistency will be essential in England and this time is satisfied with the diversity in the bowling line -up on tour.
“I think it is essential in England and there is consistency in exercise, there is consistency outside the field, finds your process what will work for you as an individual,” Morkel said.
“In our attack we have a big variant, diversity, boys with different skills to do it and still make the foundations well.”
India will play intra-squad match, starting with Friday 13th June. Morkel feels that the conditions have so far sufficiently suited the pitch. Bowling coach said that his key advice of the pitch will show the figure when the goal is a little flat.
“In two -day training, the conditions have so far sufficiently suited to fast pitching. It was a dough testing that also helps them to prepare for what to figure out,” Morkel said.
“There was a very good joke between the bat and the ball, but I think it’s just because the goals are illuminated. As soon as the goals run, the pitchs tend to retreat.”
“I will tell them not to speak only when the goals turn, but if it is an apartment, we will always need the character.”
India will face England in the first headingley test, from June 20.
