Web3 venture capital firm Hashed Empret is recovering the second edition of India Blockchain Week (IBW) to focus on early Web3 developers and companies in India. Sponsors include well-known Web3 companies such as Polygon, Aptos, Starkware and Starknet Foundation, as well as other platforms. Investors from various cities in India will be connected with startups seeking accelerated funding.
The program includes several activities to showcase their Web3 protocols for startups and developers. Highlights include IBW Chain Agile Hackathon, IBW Web3 Demo Day, and Eth India Hackathon.
The event is scheduled to take place between November 30 and December 8.
“India is home to amazing developers and leaders who are advancing Web3 in amazing ways,” said Avery Ching, co-founder and CTO of Aptos Labs in an official statement. San Francisco-based Aptos Labs offers people with Web3 Access to technology-related tools and services.
“India is at the unique inflection point of Web3 adoption, its developer community, commitment to entrepreneurship, and the pace of economic activity,” said Keone Hon, CEO of Monad Labs. Monad Labs is committed to advancing blockchain technology and is located in New York, USA.
Despite India’s cautious stance on fully integrating cryptocurrencies into its financial system, the country has been expressing interest in exploring blockchain technology. Blockchains are often positioned as an alternative to Web2 servers, which not only ensures permanent security of information, but also divides data into smaller packets, thereby enhancing protection against hackers and data loss. This technology is also called Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).
Recently, the IT ministry in India launched the Vishvasya Technology Stack to provide Blockchain as a Service (BAAS) through data centers in Pune, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar. Several state governments have also implemented blockchain to improve their data preservation.
According to a report by KPMG India and Hashed Emperent, India plays a key role in global blockchain growth, accounting for more than 12% of global Web3 developers and owns more than 1,000 startups. Hashed Emperor expects that the IBW conference in Bangalore in December will serve as a key platform for dialogue between policy makers and industry experts, helping to provide a roadmap for India’s future in the industry.
Last year’s IBW was distinguished speakers such as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Sandbox’s Sebastien Borget and Ledger’s Charles Guillemet.
