India 29/0 in 6.5 Overs | IND vs ENG Live Score, 3rd ODI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill go for chase at Lord’s

India vs England Live Score, 3rd ODI: The cricketing world will be watching Rohit Sharma closely when India take on England in the crucial third ODI at Lord’s on Sunday.

The build-up to the match was dominated by speculation about Rohit’s future. However, the BCCI has made it clear that the Lord’s ODI will not be the veteran opener’s last international appearance.

Even so, Rohit will be keen to silence his critics after struggling in the first two matches of the series.

Rohit is trying to rediscover his touch

At best, Rohit is known for his light hitting against pace and ability to dominate spin. However, the 39-year-old has so far strayed from his fluid self, leading to renewed debate over whether he can continue until the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.

The two-pace surface in Cardiff did not help his cause as he played nine consecutive dots before getting out.

A better batting wicket at the “Home of Cricket” could give Rohit an ideal opportunity to produce a trademark innings.

As a former India captain, Rohit often set the tone by attacking in the overs. His biggest challenge on Sunday will be handling the pace and bounce of Jofr Archer in the opening overs.

Gill, Kohli key to India’s batting

Current skipper Shubman Gill is in good touch with the bat and will be hoping to turn his start into a big hundred after dropping his wicket in Cardiff.

While Rohit struggled, Virat Kohli continued to dominate the ODI format. He looked set for another century in the second ODI before falling to Archer, triggering a middle-order collapse that proved costly for India.

India will be hoping to avoid a repeat of those series-deciding mistakes.

KL Rahul’s availability is also being talked about after he was replaced by Ishan Kishan in the previous game due to illness. Kishan, like several other Indian batsmen, found it difficult against England’s short ball tactics.

Shreyas Iyer has been one of India’s positives in the middle order, especially with his confident batting against leg-spinner Adil Rashid.
