After ending the series, India opted to make two changes for the 4th edition of the Women’s T20I against Sri Lanka, with the big name Jemimah Rodrigues missing. Jemima, who was the man of the match in the series openerhe is out due to illness and will be replaced in the lineup by Harleen Deol.
India already lead by an elusive 3-0 and decided to rest Kranti Goud as the pacer has played all the matches in the ODI Women’s World Cup and the first three matches of the ongoing series. Arundhati Reddy comes in place of Kranti in the lineup after he missed the last match.
IND vs SL 4th WT20I Update
BCCI revealed that Jemimah was suffering from mild fever and is being monitored by the medical team.
“Ms. Jemimah Rodrigues was not available for selection for the 4th T20I in Thiruvananthapuram due to weakness due to mild fever. The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring her progress and recovery,” a BCCI statement said.
With 102 runs in three games, Jemimah is the second highest run-getter in the series at an average of 52.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said it was the right platform to give some of the fringe players a chance to get some form for their side.
“Jemi is not playing today due to illness. Kranti is resting today. Harleen is back, Arundhati is back. This is an ideal series for us to test the players and give them an ideal platform,” said Harmanpreet.
Harleen last appeared in a T20I in July this year during the England tour and is expected to come in at No.3 in place of Jemimah. Sri Lanka made two changes: Malki Madara and Inoka Ranaweera left and Kawya Kavindi and Rashmika Sewwandi came on.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.
