India opted to bring Ruturaj Gaikwad instead of Rishabh Pant for the match in Ranchi. Ruturaj returns to the ODI setup for the first time since 2023 when he played against the Proteas in Gqberha. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma will miss the Ranchi ODI as he was rested for the match against India after the Test series. In Bavuma’s absence, Aiden Markram will captain the Proteas for the match on Sunday 30 November.
Ruturaj comes into the Indian team at No.4 as revealed by KL Rahul who ended up losing the toss. Ruturaj has scored 115 runs in six matches so far. Rahul also said that Yashasvi Jaiswak will start Rohit Sharma, with Kohli at number three.
