After the boycott drama ended, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi met the Pakistan team ahead of their clash with India in the 2026 FIFA World Cup T20 on Sunday, February 15. Naqvi arrived in Colombo on Saturday ahead of the clash between the arch rivals.

Naqvi met the team members to boost their morale ahead of the clash and appreciated their determination and commitment to the national team. The meeting was attended by captain Salman Ali Agha, head coach Mike Hesson and team manager Naveed Akram Cheema along with the entire squad and support staff. PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, PSL CEO Salman Naseer and Media Director Aamir Mir were also present.
Naqvi was seen having a very candid chat with the players as spirits in the Pakistan camp appeared to be high ahead of Sunday’s clash in Colombo.
WHAT DID NAQVI SAY ABOUT INDIA VS PAKISTAN?
Speaking to reporters about the clash with India, Naqvi tipped Pakistan to continue their good form in the FIFA World Cup T20 2026. Pakistan are unbeaten in the tournament so far with wins over Netherlands and USA.
“Our team is in good shape for the match against India. Insha’Allah we are expecting a positive result,” Naqvi said.
Upon his arrival, Naqvi was received by Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Ports and Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakka, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Faheem-ul-Aziz. During the trip, he also held meetings with senior Sri Lankan officials to discuss areas of mutual interest.
“Pakistan highly values its excellent relations with Sri Lanka,” he said. “During the T20 World Cup, Pakistan plays all its matches here in Sri Lanka. As our gracious host, Sri Lanka deserves our utmost respect and appreciation.”
The PCB chairman is expected to meet key ICC officials during Naqvi’s visit after the boycott episode at the beginning of the month. Representatives from the Indian and Bangladesh cricket boards are also expected to be in Colombo, raising the possibility of an informal discussion on the sidelines with the ICC chairman and other key officials.
