NEW DELHI: India captain Shubman Gill on Wednesday added another record to his name by becoming the third fastest Indian batsman to reach 150 in a One-Day International (ODI) innings.Gill brought up the milestone in the 42nd over of India’s innings against Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow. Facing Allah Ghazanfar, he worked the delivery towards long-on for a single to complete his 150. The India captain acknowledged the applause from the crowd after reaching the landmark.Fewest balls under 150 for India in ODIs:

Gill’s innings came after India found themselves at 96 for 2. He then joined forces with Ishan Kishan for a 224-run partnership that put India in control of the contest. Both the batsmen scored centuries.The match also produced a rare record for Indian cricket. It was the first time that two Indian batsmen scored ODI centuries in 80 or fewer balls in the same innings. Earlier, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first.India, who lead the three-match series 1-0, handed ODI debut to fast bowler Prince Yadav after his performances for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the match with a quadriceps injury while Kuldeep Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the side.Afghanistan also provided ODI debuts to Darwish Rasooli and Bilal Sami.
