A 35 -year -old man from the United States was found guilty of fraud after pretending to be a stewardess for six years, allowing him to take 120 flight flights across the main airlines.
According to USA Today, a man, identified as Tiron Alexander, was convicted of a federal jury for fraud and illegally entering secure airport areas under false pretexts.
Between 2018 and 2024, Alexander approached the flight crew to claim free travel benefits for airlines. This type of travel without income is a common industrial view for flight attendants and pilots.
Although Alexander started working for an airline in November 2015, he was never employed as a stewardess or pilot. Judicial documents revealed that he used 30 different numbers of badges and false jobs to issue crew members and ensure free travel on several American carriers, including American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Delta, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
“The evidence in court also showed that Alexander presented as a stewardess on three other airlines. In the end, Alexander reserved more than 120 free flights falsely assertion that he was a stewardess,” the US office quoted today.
Only one airlines started 34 flights by setting out on a crew member.
Traffic safety management (TSA) responded to the verdict and said:
“While Alexander was able to take flights of fraudulently obtaining a boarding ticket, he underwent all applicable TSA safety procedures, including ID and physical screening, and did not pose a threat to other airline passengers.”
“The TSA remains devoted to the security of the flying public and will continue to support the prosecution of those who violate air transport laws.”
Alexander is now facing a maximum punishment of 20 years in prison for fraud with wires and up to 10 years to enter limited airport areas under false pretexts. Both fees also bear up to three years of release under supervision and a fine of up to $ 250,000 (approx. £2.15 crore).
