Increasing the security of Hyderabad’s vertical boom

For the first few seconds, the residents of the Jayabheri residence in Anjaiah Nagar could not understand the deafening sound. When they rushed down, they found smoke and mud around the apartment complex. Only then did they realize what had happened: a seven-story building under construction on the other side of their border wall had collapsed.

“For the next few hours, all we could hear were sirens. Government vehicles were coming one after another,” recalls Sujata, a 52-year-old resident of Block C of Hyderabad’s Gachibowli housing complex.
