The Indian National Ocean Information Services (Incois) were alerting high waves along the northern and southern Goa coasts, North and South Karnataka, Maharashtra and Keral, which on Monday (May 26, 2025) demanded suspension of recreational activities near the coast.
The wave height is expected to increase up to 4.3 meters from the evening of 26 May to 27 May 20.
Areas identified for wave overvoltage and erosion
Among the areas identified for wave growth and erotation are Chapora to the Panaji, Santer in the Kolamby in Goa, Quarantaka – Mulki on Mangalore, Baindur, Hood, Majali to Bhatkal, Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram Ernakulaum, Kollam, Kanpuram, Kannur, Kannur. Lakshadweep, Maharastra – Ratnagiti and Sindhudurg.
The islands of Andaman & Nicobar, Puduchherry and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nad were also placed in the “red” list of areas that will be affected by the weather. For Bharuch, Bhavnagar, DevBhumi Dwaraka and other Gujarat regions, ocean warnings and other Gujarat regions have been released
Flood warnings, especially during the tide
The Institute-under the Ministry of Sciences of the Earth (MOE)-has warned of the possibility of flooding in low-colored coastal areas, especially during the tide between 24 to 28 May due to permanent strong coastal winds, high coastal waves/swelling and strong precipitation. According to the official announcement, the approximate timing of higher high water levels and a lower high water level for specific locations and other information are available on its website.
