The inauguration edition of the extensive multilateral exercise of Africa India India The key naval engagement (Aikeyme) began on Sunday (April 13, 2025) in Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania. On Saturday, the coast patrol ship, which was marked on Saturday as Sagar and Sail with 44 naval staff from nine friendly nations.
“The aim of Aikeyme is to develop solutions for cooperation for ordinary regional maritime challenges. This first Indian Navy Initiative seeks to increase interoperability and synergize combined operations between the Maritime Nations,” the Navy said in a statement. “He also emphasizes strong and friendly relations between India and African nations.”
The six -day Aikey exercise from 13 to 18 April includes participation from Comoros, Djibouts, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles and South Africa, along with co -founders of India and Tanzania. “This initiative is in line with the vision of the premiere of Narendry Modi, supporting mutual and holistic progress in the field of security and growth across the regions (Mahasagar),” the Navy said.
The Indian naval ship Chennai (Destroyer) and INS KESARI (Landing Ship Tank (Large)) arrived in Dar-Es-Salaam before exercising and the ceremony Aikeym, along with the defensive force of Tanzan people (TPDF). On board Ins Cennai was also blessed a festive guard, while TPDF and the Indian naval band played in the national anthem of the countries.
Port phase
The port phase for the Aikeyme-25 includes the inaugural ceremony and the reception of the PALUBY with the State Defense Minister Sanjay Seth and the Minister of Defense Tanzania as the main guests.
Planned activities during this phase include exercises on board and command progressed on antipirator operations and information sharing, along with joint training in the sailor and visiting the advice and seizures in cooperation with TPDF, the Navy said. Furthermore, activities such as sports accessories and yoga sitting are also planned to promote camaraderie and Indian naval ships will be open to visitors during the port phase to engage in the local population.
The sea phase, planned from 16 to 18 April, will focus on strengthening cooperation with the naval security among the participating nations.
Ins Sukanya will leave Dar-Es-Salaam on April 15 for the next port, Nacala, Mosambique to continue with the iOS Sagar mission.
