Senior BJP leader and Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar claimed that he campaigned for only two days and addressed three meetings for the recent Jubilee Hills bypoll and there were efforts to “thwart” him by denying permission.
He stated that he will continue to work to strengthen the party and its voter bank with renewed vigour. “Being a minister, an MP or even politics itself is not important to me. My aim is to ensure that all political parties compete for the votes of the majority community. I will not back down to fight for my religion and I am not afraid of anyone,” he said while addressing a community gathering.
“There is nothing wrong with caste identity but we should not forget that we are Indians first and we are lucky to be Hindus. I appeal to all castes to unite,” he said and also urged those who converted to other religions to return to the fold.
“I am not trying to disparage any religion, but I will speak proudly of my own,” added Mr. Sanjay Kumar, praising Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for his efforts to promote ‘Sanatana Dharma’.
