In the first phase, identity cards will be issued to class 10, 12 students: Sengottaiyan

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KA Sengottaiyan said on Friday (June 26, 2026) that the state government will issue identity cards containing details such as students’ address, community certificate, blood group, Aadhaar number and phone number to class 10 and 12 students in the first phase.

Talking to reporters in Gobichettipalayam, the minister said that students are required to submit community certificates for various purposes every year. To simplify the process, the government has decided to introduce identity cards that would integrate all student details, he said. Mr. Sengottaiyan said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had directed the officials to complete the exercise as soon as possible and that the work to issue the cards was in progress.
