Amanda Anisimova said she was in “shock” after her defeat in the Wimbledon 2025 final. On Saturday 12th July Iga Swiatlek claimed its sixth Grand Slam title with the dominant victory of 6-0, 6-0 over AnisimPacking the match in just 57 minutes at the Central Court.
In the history of the Grand Slam, it was only a second time that the final ended the double bagel, the first of which is 6-0, 6-0 victories over Natasha Zverevou in 1988 French Open.
Anisimova tried to find her rhythm when Swiatlek secured her first Grand Slam title in accordance with the grass court. The American admitted that the loss was “hard to spend” and added that she did not expect the final to develop as it was.
“It was a bit hard to spend obviously. Especially during and right after. It’s not how I want my first Grand Slam final to leave.
“It’s not easy to go through. Loss 6-0, 6-0 in the final of the Grand Slam.
Anisimova had several standout moments during the tournament, especially in the semifinals, where she defeated Aryna Sabalenko No. 1. With this victory she became the youngest American wife, who reached the final of Wimbledon singles in 2004.
Despite her loss to Swiatek in the finals, there were still a lot for Anisimov. After the release of new charts, she is ready to make his debut in WTA TOP 10. The final victory would see her increase up to 5.
