‘In mutual solidarity’: PM Modi receives call from Qatari Amir after 12 Indians killed in Ras Laffan blast | Today’s news
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday received a phone call from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who expressed grief over the death of Indian citizens in a tragic accident in the country’s industrial town of Ras Laffan.
Twelve Indians were among 13 people killed in an explosion at an LNG facility in the industrial city of Ras Laffan in Qatar on Sunday evening.
“I thank His Highness the Amir of Qatar for his phone call and condolence over the loss of lives of Indian citizens in the tragic accident in the industrial town of Ras Laffan, Qatar,” Modi said in a post on ‘X’.
The Prime Minister said that he and the Emir of Qatar share the grief of the families who lost their loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“India and Qatar remain steadfast in their commitment to the security and well-being of our citizens and stand in solidarity with each other,” Modi said.
An explosion at the local Barzan gas supply facility in the industrial city of Ras Laffan, operated by QatarEnergy LNG, also injured 66 people, including Indians.
The Indian mission, citing Qatari authorities, said that all the injured were in a stable condition and receiving adequate medical care.
