Bharatiya Janata (BJP) side received gifts £2 243.947 crore in the amount £20,000 or more, in 2023-24, the latest news found. The amount is about seven times larger than the collection £281.48 Crore from the Congress Party, according to reports submitted by political parties to the Indian Election Commission (EC).
According to the analysis of the Association of Election Watchdog for Democratic Reforms (ADR), BJP, Ruling Party in the Center, has declared more than six times aggregated gifts announced by four other National Parties – Congress, AAM AADMI (AAP), National People (NPEP) and Communist Party M) – for the same period.
Among the six political parties BSP said he had not received any gifts.

In the earlier report of ADR BJP announced an overall income £4 340.4 crore during FY24 but spent only 51 % £2 211.6 crore. The total income of the congress party for the same financial year was £1 225 crore while its expenditure for the year was £1,025 Crore, 83.69 % of its total income, ADR analysis in February 2025 said.
Remember, 2024 was Lok Sabha’s elections. The elections took place in seven phases from 19 to 1 June.
Here are the key findings of the analysis issued on April 7, 2025:
-The gifts (above £20 000) announced by the National Parties for FY 2023-24 were £ 2544.278 crore from 12 547 gifts.
– in total £2243.947 crore from 8 358 gifts were declared BJP followed £281.48 CR since 1994 gifts announced by the Congress Party. Gifts declared BJP are more than six times the aggregate renowned by Congress, AAP, NPEP and CPI (m) for the same period.
– BSP said the party did not receive the above gifts £ 20,000 during the 2023-24, as it has been saying over the past 18 years.
211,72 % of BJP gifts
– Total gifts of national parties during FY 2023-24 increased by £1693,84 CR, an increase of 199.17 % since the previous financial year 2022-23.

– Gifts of BJP increased from £719,858 crore in FY 2022-23 to £ 2 243.947 Crore in FY 2023-24, which means an increase of 211.72 %.
-Like, gifts of congress raised out of £79,924 crore in FY 2022-23 £281.48 CR in FY 2023-24, reflecting an increase of 252.18 %.
– Compared to the previous financial year, the gifts declared AAP decreased by 70.18 % or £26.038 crore, while gifts declared NPEP reduced by 98.02 % or £7.331 crore.
State donations to the national parties
– in total £ 989.20 CR was dedicated to national parties from Delhi, followed by £404,512 Cr of Gujarat and £334.079 CR from Maharashtra.
– a gift £7000 from the United States donor was made to AAP.
– in total £6.062 Crore (0.238 % of the total donations received by the National Parties, FY 2023-24), could not be attributed to any state/ trade union territory due to incomplete/ unheated information provided by the parties.
Donors from VS enterprises individual donors
– up to 3755 gifts to the national parties were donated by business/business sectors in the amount £2262.5537 Crore (88.9271 % of total gifts), while 8493 donated individual donors £270.872 crore (10.6463 % of the total gifts) to the parties during FY 2023-24.
– 3478 gifts from the corporate/business sector have been provided by BJP ( £ 2064.58 crore) while 4628 individual donors donated £169.126 CR on the side during FY 2023-24.

– Congress received a total £190.3263 CR through 102 gifts from business/business sectors and £90.899 CR over 1882 individual donors during FY 2023-24.
– BJP ( £2064.58 Cr) received more than nine times the total amount ( £ 197.9737 Cr) corporate donations announced by all other national parties for FY 2023-24.
Best National Party Donors, FY 2023-24
– Household election trust has given a total of total £880.0775 CRORE BJP and Congress together and is the best donor to receive maximum gifts. The trust gave £723,675 crore on BJP (32.25 % of the total funds received by the party) and £156.4025 crore at Congress (55.56 % of the total funds received).
– triumphant election confidence has donated £127.50 CR from 4 BJP gifts and derived investment donated £50 CR on BJP and £3.20 crore for congress side.
