Villupuram District Police recovered stolen property worth ₹2 crore in 2025.
According to the press release, as many as 489 cases of theft were reported during the year. Police have solved 339 cases while recovering stolen property and cash worth ₹2 crore.
In 2025, up to 32 cases of murder were registered, of which 15 ended in conviction.
Police said 55 people were arrested under the Goondas Act for their involvement in various types of crimes, including robbery, selling ganja, selling banned tobacco products and smuggling.
About 2,224 persons were arrested in 2,195 cases for smuggling of Indian Foreign Liquor (IMFL), illegal distillation and sale of arrack. A total of 250 people were arrested on charges of selling ganja and 344 others for selling prohibited tobacco products.
More than 1,000 liters of illegally distilled arrack and 14,134 bottles of IMFL were seized. As many as 358 vehicles were confiscated by the police as part of prohibition offences.
Cuddalore
The Cuddalore District Police recovered stolen property worth ₹3.96 crore in 2025 and registered as many as 37 cases of murder. Of these, nine cases resulted in convictions.
Police said 121 people were arrested under the Goondas Act for their involvement in various types of crimes, including robbery, ganja peddling, sale of banned tobacco products and smuggling. About 2,567 persons were arrested in cases of IMFL smuggling, illegal distillation and sale of arrack.
A total of 359 people were arrested on charges of selling ganja and 403 others for selling prohibited tobacco products.
As many as eight cases booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) have resulted in convictions.
