It is necessary to improve the mechanism of tax collection without concerning the poor for municipalities to be self -sufficient and have the means needed to meet the public needs, Minister for the Municipal Administration and Development of Cities (Ma & UD), P. Narayan said.
After the start of a one -day workshop for the city commissioners, at the School of Planning and Architecture in Vijayawada 10th April (Thursday), Mr. Narayana said that instead of the position of unnecessary buildings, commissioners should focus on using tax revenues for providing and improving the basic equipment of people.
In order to authorize the city’s local authorities (ULBS), the Minister stated that they were launched from a comprehensive financial management system (CFMS). “This allows ULBS to maintain and use taxes collected for their own development and gives rise to the provision of quality basic services to people,” he said.
The lost threat of dogs
The minister, who described himself as an unfortunate incident, when a wandering dog in guntur smashed four years to death, said these cases should not be repeated. “Within 200 days we set the goal of sterilizing all dogs,” he said.
Later, the main secretary of Ma & UD S. Suesh Kumar emphasized the urgent need to improve the provision of services and urged the city commissioners to cooperate on building a more responsive, more responsible and citizen of the focused city system.
He emphasized the steps made in income mobilization and noted that in the financial year 2024–25, the state recorded a total tax collection of 2,213.61 Crore, which represents 49.46% of the total demand. “This means a 30% increase in the collection compared to the previous financial year,” he said.
Good show from ulbs
Mr. Suresh Kumar added that while only four out of 123 ULBS were qualified for the 15th grant in the previous year. This year, 106 ULBS met the required performance standards and were now eligible for grants.
The all -day workshop represented detailed presentations from the main departments. Proven procedures and achievements were shared by municipal commissioners from the main corporations such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Rajamahendraram.
The program also recorded the opening of the annual action plan for ULBS (transformation plan towards Swarna Andhra @2047) and the pure zero of the resistant city action plan of Vijayawady, followed by a felicitation ceremony, recognized by the highest executive municipalities and corporations in the field of performance, especially real estate collection.
The workshop concluded a commitment to all stakeholders to manage another phase of urban transformation into Andhra Pradesh with renewed responsibility, innovations and providing services focused on citizens.
Commissioner and Director of the Municipal Administration P. Sampath Kumar, Mission for Eradication of Poverty in urban areas (MEPMA), were present by the CEO of Tej Bharat, municipal commissioners Rajamahendrav, Tirupati, Kakinada and NERRORE.
