IMD forecasts after Cyclone Ditwah
In its latest bulletin, the IMD said the depression, essentially the remnants of Cyclone Ditwah, had moved southwest as it continued to bring rain.
“Depression (Remnant of cyclonic storm Ditwah) over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Central Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Coast Andhra Pradesh has been slowly moving South-Southwest at 3 km/ha during the last 6 hours centered at 08:25 20:00 IST today in the same area of latitude 12.8°N and longitude 80.5°E, about 40 km east-southeast of Chennai (India), 120 km north-east of Puducherry (India), 140 km north-east of Cuddalore (India) and 190 km south-southeast of Nellore-North depression from the center of Tamil (India), about 25 km,” it said.
“It is very likely to continue to move slowly southwestwards towards north coast of Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and maintain depression intensity till today evening, December 2. After that, as it moves towards the coast, it is very likely to weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during the next 12 hours,” the IMD said.
