Deputy Chairman and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday (June 30, 2025), the leader of the veteran congress Ashok Gehlot refuted pressure on Parliament-raga officers Sabha chairman and spokesman of Lok Sabha. “I’m not under (no) pressure,” Mr. Dhankhar said in the position of the Association of former Mla in Jaipur.
“Because he (Mr. Gehlot) spoke publicly, I would also like to say publicly – he doesn’t have to worry. I’m not under any pressure … I don’t even exert pressure on anyone, nor will I work under pressure,” Dhankhar said when I dealt with the “Sneh Milan Samaroh” organized by Rajasthan Pragatisheel Manch here.
“I was a little concerned, not for my health, but for my friend, a former main minister who said we were under pressure. He is one of my oldest friends in Rajasthan politics and well friendly,” Mr. Dhankhar said, rejecting Mr. Gehlot’s claim to parliament officers.

During a recent visit to Jodhpur, Mr. Gehlot recently said that opposition leaders were not allowed to speak in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. He claimed that all this was happening under the pressure of Vice President and Lok Sabha Om Birla and added that they were also under pressure.
Mr. Dhankhar said he could confirm “no pressure” while talking from Rajasthan, and added that “he personally noted that Mr. Birla could not be under pressure … I work closely with him”.
Referring to the constitutional position of the governors, Mr. Dhankhar said that “often treats them as an easy punching bag”. “If the state and the center are dominated by various political parties, it is very easy to apply.
The vice -chairman expressed concern about the current political scenario and said the political atmosphere is currently “not healthy” for individuals and democracy. “The strength constantly changes his hands; the ruling party becomes the opposition, the opposition becomes the ruling party. However, this does not mean that we should become enemies. Our enemies can lie across the border, not in the country,” said Dhankhar.
He emphasized the emphasis on greater decorum in legislative behavior and pointed out that public disillusionment with the behavior of legislators could disrupt the faith in a democratic institution. “It is disturbing to see what is happening in the temples of democracy. If these institutions are threatened, people will look for alternatives,” he said, calling for the former MLA to help improve the quality of public discourse.
Dhankhar emphasized the importance of healthy opposition and said that the opposition is a vital component of democracy and not an opponent. He defended “open expression and dialogue” and confirmed that when an expression became a rejection of contradictory opinions, it ceases to be meaningful. “The constructive debate is necessary and it means working with people who disagree with you,” he said.
