The young father died the hero after he broke through the window to help his fiance and two children escaped the rising flood waters, which on Friday in Gram in Texas tore the home of the trailer before dawn.
Julian Ryan, 27, was bleeding to death after separating the artery in his arm during a desperate rescue attempt, family members said.
Ryan, his fiancee Christinia Wilson, their six -year -old and thirteen -month -old children, and Ryan’s mother slept when they came across the floods from the Guadalupe River, flooded their home around 4:00
“That started to pour and we had to fight the door to close them to make sure it wouldn’t get too much,” Wilson Khou said.
As the water continued to rise, Wilson put his two children on a floating mattress. But when the bedroom door opens, the family had no time to save.
A fatal injury in a desperate escape
In an effort to create an escape route, Ryan broke through the bedroom window – smashed the glass and almost put his hand “clean”, according to members of the family who spoke to Khou.
Tragically, despite the Wilson repeated call 911, there was no help in time.
“I’m sorry, I’m not going to do it.
Home destroyed, family rescued
The lightning flood water eventually torn the trailer in half and created a gap for the rest of the family to escape to safety without Ryan.
“He was the best father, and he was always such a happy person who had never been to help people, no matter what it cost,” Wilson said.
Ryan’s body was restored a few hours later on Friday after the water retreated to Kerr County, New York Times reported.
The hero remembered
The Gofundme page has received over $ 25,000 to support the family.
“With deep sadness and heavy heart, we share devastating news of the unexpected and tragic passage of our beloved Julian Ryan 4 July 2025,” the family wrote in a statement published on Fundraiser.
