'I'm hungry every day': McDonald's official X account in India is under threat, 'unpaid' social media posts by employees

McDonald’s India’s official X account had quite a busy morning on September 6th. Someone hijacked the doorknob and things quickly got weird.

An anonymous post claimed to be from an unpaid intern working there. This person claimed that their boss Amit Joshi has not paid their salary since December 2025.

According to the post, this forced the employee to take on two extra jobs. This person claimed to be managing several McDonald’s accounts in Asia despite unpaid wages.

“On top of my two jobs in customer support and delivery, I’m trying to trade memecoins. I’m literally starving every day because | I’m going to lose all my money on them,” the person wrote.

Naturally, the internet went crazy reading such allegations from a verified account. The post garnered thousands of likes before it disappeared.

Things got weirder when another post from the same account appeared. She revealed a photograph which claimed that the boss under the scanner was Amit Joshi. The image showed a group photo from what appeared to be a cricket match.

Then came an even bigger twist in this bizarre saga. Another post appeared, seemingly claiming the whole thing was fake.

It included the rather telling hashtags “#fakenews” and “#memecoin”. The post included a crying dog meme, quite fittingly dramatic.

The caption joked about “McD admins”. “If only our real posts went viral…” the post read.

At that moment, no one knew what to believe. Was this a genuine complaint about the intern or an elaborate prank?

McDonald’s India has not yet issued any official statement clarifying the situation. All we have is a meme reaction. The identity of whoever posted these messages remains unknown.

Screenshots of the posts went viral across social media platforms. Many users wonder how someone got a verified account.

Reaction on social networks

Social networks mostly defended the person who posted the complaint.

“You can’t mess with Gen Z. They don’t complain, they go public,” one person wrote while sharing the screenshots, which have garnered over 1.4 million views.

“Slowly thinking about doing it every now and then when the crazy bosses are out, maybe one day when I’ve finally had enough,” commented one user X.

“Bro turned a multi-billion dollar Twitter handle into his personal Mean Girls burn book,” another user joked.

One user wrote: “That’s the way to go! Publicly shame employers like this. That’s how they’ll learn.”

However, not everyone was sympathetic to the employee, who allegedly did not get paid.

“Gen Z skipped the complaint box and went straight to the timeline,” wrote one.

“Sympathized until memecoins were mentioned. Looks like the account was compromised,” another user wrote.
