Despite repeated interventions, illegal parking remains at the Bus stops of Autorickshaws, Cabins and Private Vehicles in Bengalur Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), causing traffic jams and threatening commuting.
According to data provided by the police, 8,870 cases were booked in 2022, 5 499 in 2023 and 8,811 in 2024 for such violations. However, the problem persists because Authorickshaws and cabins continue to interfere with bus stops, making BMTC buses difficult to stop at designated points.
Commuters face everyday struggle

Many bus stops, between 8,500 maintained Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), remain intervened and let the passengers get stuck on busy roads.
During the recent meeting of the Assembly, the Minister of the Interior G. Parameshware admitted that parking of buses that are not BMTC at bus stops led to a traffic jam and caused inconvenience to the public.

The BMTC official said: “We are aware of the growing problem of car and private vehicles occupying bus stops. We instructed our Sarathi Patrol teams to ensure that these vehicles are not abusing bus stops.”
BENGALUR’s traffic police officials perform regular driving to prevent illegal parking. “We regularly carry out units to ensure that cars and cabins do not park in forbidden areas, especially near BMTC bus stops. We increase our checks to ensure that there are no parked vehicles near the bus stops,” said the traffic police officer.
