The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched a Master of Arts (MA) program in Public Policy and several Master of Technology (M. Tech) programs in emerging technology areas such as semiconductors, computational engineering in mechanical systems, and robotics.
The Public Policy Master’s program will be offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, M.Tech in Semiconductor Materials Technology by the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, M.Tech in Robotics by the Department of Engineering Design, and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Computational Engineering in Mechanical Engineering by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The programs were designed to equip students with interdisciplinary skills and knowledge to solve problems in management, industry and technology, the press release said. The Master’s program in Public Policy has been designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of how governments and institutions design and implement policies to address complex social, economic and political challenges.
The M.Tech program in Semiconductors will provide specialized training in semiconductor fundamentals and manufacturing technologies. The M.Tech course in Computational Engineering in Mechanical Systems integrates classical mechanics, advanced numerical methods, machine learning and high-performance computing to prepare engineers for simulation-driven innovation. The M.Tech in Robotics focuses on the design, analysis and application of advanced robotic systems in industrial and societal contexts.
