Scientists from the Indian Scientific Institute of Bengalur will study the feasibility of the Hemavati River Link Canal project in the Tumacur district.
The State Minister of the Jal Shakti Union V. Somann recommended the IISC experts inspection and “we have accepted this recommendation,” said the Deputy Minister of DK Shivakumar, who holds the portfolio of water resources.
The decision to carry out the feasibility study was adopted at a meeting, which was chaired on Friday by Mr. Somann and Mr. Shivakumar with the legislators of all parties.
Shivakumar talked to reporters and said, “It’s not just Kunigal, but we have to provide the water of the whole district of Tumacura. We have a plan and distribute water in such a way that it is fair to everyone. It is our duty to take care of the interests of all taluks.”
He said that all taluc was equally important to him and that a scheme would be created to provide water to all tumacur talls.
The Link project launched the political Slugfest with BJP and Janata gave (s) a blaming ruling congress of an attempt to divert water into taluks from Bengalur South District (formerly called Ramanagara).
Mr. Shivakumar said, “We took feedback from the representatives of the district on the Hemavati Link. Some protest that the channel must not be a pipe, but that is the government’s decision … Our government has launched this project, but BJP stopped it.”
When he talked about other projects for the region, he said: “BJP took back the medical college, which was given to my constituency. Despite the promise of former main Minister BS Yediyuppa, a medical university went to Chickbalpur”.
