A 21-year-old II PU student was found hanging in a government hostel at Gurmitkal in Yadgir district on Friday.
Sources said that students found her hanging from the window grill of the study hall where she was said to have been going to study.
The deceased studied in a private college and lived in a hostel. She wrote four papers for the PU exam and was supposed to write the remaining two papers.
The reasons that led to the death are not yet known.
Superintendent of Police Prutwik Shankar, Zilla Panchayat CEO Lavish Ordia and officers of concerned departments visited the spot for inspection.
Gurmitkal police have registered a case. They started an investigation.
