
At the end of this year, the Grand Slam IgA Swiatlek Champion secured his place in the WTA finals at the end of this year. The Polish player became only a second woman, after World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to qualify for the tournament. Swiatlek won her place by advanced to the Cincinnati Masters final, where he will face the Italian Jasmine Paolini.
After Swiato won the 2023 WTA finals, the fifth consecutive performance will be at the end of the season. Sabalenka was already qualified for a Riyadh tournament in July. After a difficult period, which included year -round waiting for her next Grand Slam title and falling out of the first five, she regained her strength, including her first title Wimbledon with victory over Amanda Anisim in the final.
In the semifinals of Cincinnati, Swiatlek beat 2022 Wimbledon Champion Elena Rybakina 7-5, 6-3She sets her last clash with Paolini. SWIIATEK was in the first set below 3-5, 15-30, but managed to turn the match with a strong return.
“Satisfied with my performance”
The young star admitted that Rybakina made it difficult for her in the opening set. But as soon as Swiato settled in her game, she denied Rybakina any chance to go back to the match.
“At the beginning, the level was quite crazy. We played so fast that we couldn’t run on the second ball sometimes. I was there to play with intensity and good quality. I’m very happy with the show,” Swiatlek said after the match.
With her victory over Rybakina, Swiatlek secured her first WTA final by Masters in Rome 2024. She also tied Aryna Sabalenka and Petr Kvitov for 5. Most WTA 1000 final performances in history, 13.
The WTA final from 2025 will take place in Riyadh from 1 to 8 November and will present the TOP 8 singles of players and doubles.
